Thread-Watcher has come a long way since it’s humble beginnings back in 2021. What started as a simple one-trick bot that I expected might get added to a handful of servers has grown larger than I could have ever hoped for.

To keep the bot in line with my aspirations of world domination being a useful part of your servers toolbox I am starting the process of completely rewriting the bot from scratch. Thread-Watcher V3 will be Better, faster, and stronger than before!

One Feature Only

Since the start I have been quite strict about what functionality gets brought into the bot. At the very start the bot featured only one command, namely /watch. With time I opened the doors for more commands, leading to the feature set you see today. But everything still resolved around one thing: watching threads.

For V3 I am broadening the scopes and expanding the vision of the bot. The bot is evolving from something that just kept your threads alive to more of an all around thread toolbox with plenty of new tools that I truly believe will serve you and your community well!

That said, keeping threads alive is still the core of Thread-Watcher. No new features will roll out of the code feature factory place until that core is rock solid. Quality first, always.

No Premium

When I first created Thread-Watcher in mid 2021 I promised that the bot would stay free without introducing any premium features. This is a promise I could quite easily make back then as the bot was in a grand total of like 50 servers and I was 18 and living at home with little to no expenses.

Now, in 2025, the situation has changed… a bit. The bot is in 18 000+ servers and counting and I am a broke student wrapping up my last year at Uppsala University.

That is why I’ll be introducing premium functionality in V3. Please do not worry, I do not intend to mee6 nickel and dime you! Nothing that was previously free is going to get locked behind some pesky paywall. My hope is to cover the expenses that comes with the bot and sustaining my energy drink problem if there’s anything left over.
